She finally got me into it. Who? ofcourse I mean Cheryl =CelticStrm-Stock  Got my thinking, remembering cap on and I wrote down one or more memories of every year since I was born, which means 56 of them. Did that awhile ago, haven't posted it yet, I thought there were too many personal things in. So... after some serious considering I decided to make 5-year steps, but then I noticed some real fun parts were left out... Okay, never mind, I will add some of the  other years as well.

Please join me in this fun. And decide for yourself if you will tag some people or not.

Now let's start, this is MY life !

1957: Born at Midsummer

1959: I got into child labour: They (my parents) let me weed the carrot patch. It seems I could perfectly tell the weeds from the tiny carrot seedlings, I even remember being busy with it.  

1962: In April I got this most traumatic experience: My toncils were removed. The trauma would last until the 90's. Physically I seemed to do better...

1965: At the start of the year the twin sisters were born, so we were with 5 girls now. On New Years Eve our cabin got on fire.

1967: I think this was the year I got my glasses.

1968: I could not think of any special thing happening this year. From these late sixties I remember easy Summers with lots of swimming in the "ringvaart" at the back of our property, as well as angling. Ofcourse in Fall we snagged grandmother's apples and pears from the trees in her orchard - we lived with 3 families on that property. We found out she counted how many there were in her trees....

1969: Went to "middelbare school" (junior high??) at Amsterdam.

1971: Got seriously ill, wasn't able to attend school for 3 months. After that I needed a period for recovery, at which I still could not do full time school.

1972: My paternal grandmother and we changed houses, so now we lived in the big house at the front of the property, while "oma" lived at the smaller cabin.

1977: Moved out to live with my boyfriend.

1979: Got married to my boyfriend (was that the right decision??)

1980: At Summer I celebrated my divorce with being happy and some partying - I had something to catch up
A friend got me a weekend job at the Royal Palace at Amsterdam [link]

1982: Moved to a new appartment, in the village north of where I grew up.

1983: The company I worked for (Amsterdam Public Transport) moved to the Scheepvaarthuis [link] a gorgeous building in architecture style "Amsterdam School" [link]
Oh, and I learned to sail a ship at sea.

1987: Got a burn-out or something like it. Quitted my job in the computer business because of it, and very slowly recovered again.

1988: Moved to our present home. We have a yard!!

1992: Got married again, wiser now. A little baby girl was born. I quitted my job to focus on full time parenting.

1997: Got pregnant again. Quitted smoking in September. Haven't regretted both of this for a single day.

1999: For our Summer holidays we went camping, which was a nice change to the "every year" bungalow resorts.

2000: Bought a little trailer to camp at the Dutch dunes camping grounds. Here is a blog about it: [link]

2002: I got bored again staying every weekend at the same campgrounds. My yard was totally neglected in Summer, and I could not preserve my plum harvest.  

2006: Went to Cologne, Germany, with oldest daughther, leaving husband at home (all except youngest daughter were happy with this arrangement). It was so nice to do a bit of travelling again, although it was just 3 hours from home

2007: Husband and I both turned 50, and we were married for 15 years so we had a big party in the yard, preparations were fun, making the garden furniture, doing the shopping, cooking all the foods.
After plum harvest we cut down the tree.  At Autumn I planted lots of flower bulbs, and started to move plants, so the yard would be interesting and colourfull again.

2008: Joined traditional art classes.
Made a marvellous train trip at Central Europe with youngest daughter. I miss my jars of home made plum jam.

2012: Oldest dauther moved out.
Fell in love with the Harz mountain area in Germany.

2013: And for this year? Planning to redo the yard, to make it an organic kitchen garden.
